What is CrossFit?

What is CrossFit and is it something for you? It is almost inevitable that you have heard some amazing stories about CrossFit from your friends, family, colleagues, or classmates.  Sharing their love for CrossFit and how they are reaching a new level in fitness. CrossFit is a form of high-intensity interval training. There is a strength-, gymnastic- and conditioning aspect in every workout that is made up of functional movements performed at a high-intensity level. From the beginning, the aim of CrossFit has been to forge a broad, general, and inclusive fitness. CrossFit can be used to reach any goal. From improved health to weight loss to better performance. The CrossFit Strijp program works for everyone. CrossFit WOD’s are different every day and can be adjusted when needed to help each athlete reach their goal(s).

Is CrossFit something for me?

Yes! CrossFit is for everyone. The CrossFit program is created in a way that everyone can join. Every WOD (workout of the day) at CrossFit Strijp is adjusted to every individuals’ needs, capabilities and goals.

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program that combines weightlifting, athletics, and gymnastics. During the training at CrossFit Strijp, you will perform functional movements in a varied way at a high intensity. The philosophy behind CrossFit is not to specialize in one specific sport because this would lead to a one-sided physical development.


Our CFS training is based on the CFS Program. In this training you will perform a training session from the CFS Program. If you do not know what the CFS Program is all about, this is a nice way for you to find out more about it. Find out what it is like to tackle your weaknesses, explore a new intensity in your workouts and get more insight in the ins and outs from the CFS Program. For CFS athletes this training is a nice possibility to train together and motivate each other.  


With gymnastics being one of the key domains of CrossFit, mastering your gymnastic skills is of great importance for every athlete. At CrossFit Strijp we will help you improve your foundational gymnastic skills like your body awareness & control, coördination, core strength and joint stability. We will also coach your through and help you master the technical aspects of all the gymnastic skills recurring in CrossFit. To practice applying these skills into the high intensity and high volume of CrossFit, we close our Gymnastic Skills class with a workout focussing on gymnastics. Get ready to expect the unexpected!



In these training sessions, you will focus on the technique and mastering the barbell in the Clean & Jerk and the Snatch. Weightlifting is an Olympic sport in which the components Snatch and Clean & Jerk come back. To learn these complex exercises, you need additional and supportive exercises. The aim of this class is to master the technique, improve power output, coordination, balance, flexibility, and mental focus. In these small group training, the coach will guide you through our weightlifting program.


In our powerlifting training, you focus on mastering the technique of the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Powerlifting is one of the most practiced strength sports in the world. It is an individual sport, where self-improvement is a central aspect. Squat, bench press and deadlift do come up in CrossFit WODs, but we don’t always have extensive time to dwell on the technique. If you want to get better at your squat, bench press, and/or deadlift, you can take powerlifting classes. The focus here is on technique and it is accessible to everyone. The program can be adapted to everyone’s level. Everyone is welcome!
